In many cities, there is a big problem with traffic which causes injuries and accidents on the roads. People argue that there should be more traffic lights on the roads to avoid such situations, while others say that it will increase more traffic due to stagnation. Give your opinion on whether you agree or disagree.
Here the major topic is traffic lights and subtopic is traffic congestion. The keywords here are accidents and injuries occurred on the roads. Thus the essay for the above topic question can be:
Increased traffic has made the lives of people miserable as it has increased concerns among masses due to a large number of accidents and injuries. Excessive traffic due to the increased number of vehicles and lack of parking space has led to this situation in major cities around the world. In my opinion, an increase in the number of traffic lights will avoid accidents and traffic congestion. This essay will elaborate on supporting the stance of installing more traffic lights on roads to avoid traffic.
Traffic lights offer maximum control at intersections and avoid conflicting movements of traffic at an intersection. Thus, in case of huge traffic on the roads, it can interrupt the extremely heavy flow of traffic to let cross the people already waiting to cross the road. Many of the people get injuries while crossing roads, this can be stopped by installing traffic light signals on the roads specifically nears education institutions and hospitals. For example, there used to be a lot of accidents happening near Fortis hospital in Ludhiana city and after the addition of traffic signals, the number of accidents has drastically decreased in the past year. Therefore, traffic lights help us to obey traffic rules and save precious lives on the roads.
Traffic congestion is mostly caused by commuters using own vehicles to reach their workplace which is controlled by traffic lights. One of the main reasons for a traffic jam in rush hour, when people desperately trying to reach their office on or before time. Traffic lights help to control traffic in major cities during peak hours and with an increase in traffic lights, people will obey traffic rules during rush hours. This will not only avoid serious accidents but also reduce traffic when traffic rules are followed. For instance, a recent study exhibits that there has been a reduction in the number of accidents and traffic jams after the installation of traffic lights in major areas of the city. Thus, commuting cannot be a risky task once the roads are installed with traffic lights.
In conclusion, the problem of traffic congestion can be tackled by adding more traffic lights on the streets. In addition, more people will obey traffic when there will be traffic lights on the streets. There are fewer chances of people involved in accidents and damage when people start respecting each other and adhere to the traffic rules while driving on the road.
The continuous presence of traffic congestion essays in IELTS exams, make it a necessary essay to be understood. If you are well aware of the key points, then you will be in a good position to attempt it.
