Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center
1 NASA's Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston has existed for over 50 years. It has led the world on a continuing adventure of human exploration, discovery, and achievement. The center has played an important role in bringing the United States into the 21st century through technological inventions and scientific discoveries. The people who work at JSC have made advances in science, technology, engineering, and medicine. This has helped people explore our world and outer space and gain endless knowledge from that exploration.
2 The Johnson Space Center was established in 1961 as the Manned Spaceflight Center. It was the home and Mission Control Center for the U.S. human spaceflight program. In 1973, it was renamed in honor of the late President, and Texas native, Lyndon B. Johnson. The Johnson Center's complex occupies 1,620 acres of land southeast of downtown Houston. JSC presently serves as the home of mission control, lead for NASA's International Space Station operations and missions, home to the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and base for many other advanced human exploration projects.
3 The Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center holds several artifacts that are worth a visit. For example, several historic space capsules are on display at the space center. They include the Faith 7 Mercury capsule flown by Gordon Cooper; Gemini 5, flown by Gordon Cooper and Pete Conrad; and the Apollo 17 Command Module, flown to the Moon and back by Gene Cernan, Ronald Evans, and Harrison Schmitt. NASA's latest-generation space capsule, Orion, is also on display.
4 Along with the space capsules, the JSC holds the famous Lunar Module; it hangs from the ceiling. This spacecraft, named LTA-8, served as a test unit for astronaut training. The spacecraft from which six astronauts descended to the surface of the Moon had the same design as LTA-8. Their Lunar Modules acted as their base while on the Moon. Later, it helped them return to the Lunar Orbit when their stay was over. The Apollo 13 Lunar Module acted as a lifeboat after that flight's Service Module was damaged. It helped the crew return safely to Earth.
5 NASA's robots called Robonauts are also designed at the Johnson Space Center. One such robot is currently at the International Space Station. The Space Vehicle Mockup Facility in Building 9 at the space center is a good place to see the Robonauts. Some tours let people see the inside of the building from above. Other special tours take people across the building floor for a close-up look at Robonauts and other wonders at the space center.
6 The Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center is a wondrous place that displays the history of space exploration and the technology of the future, all under one roof.

In the two diagrams below, the length of the arrows represents the relative velocities of stream flow at various places in a stream. Diagram I shows the different water velocities across the surface. Diagram II shows the different water velocities at various depths. At which location in the stream is the water velocity greatest?
Water flow is slowest at the bottom and edges and quickest towards the surface and in the middle of the stream because friction along the stream bed reduces flow velocity.
In a meandering stream, where is the maximum velocity?Meanders move by eroding downstream and in an oblique direction. The maximum stream velocity shifts to the outside of the curve, forcing the outer bank to erode, which results in the sideways displacement.
Where does a river's flow velocity increase the most as it makes a bend? The outermost portion of the channel is where the water is moving at its fastest speed when navigating a curve. Sediment erosion takes place here, at the region known as the channel's bank.

Dog Training Me?
by Bryan Ellett
My new dog is a mutt, or a mix of breeds, most likely a mix between a basset hound and a beagle. No one knows for sure, though. His name is Capote, and he is a really attractive dog, small but sturdy. He has great posture and always looks proud, sticking his chest out slightly and standing tall. There is only one problem, but it’s a big problem: he won’t fetch.
Actually, it’s worse than that. Not only will he not fetch, he’s making me play his game! I throw the ball, and Capote goes running after it, as if fetch is the thing in the world he most enjoys. He begins bringing the ball back to me, but then he runs right past me. I follow him, reaching for the ball and trying to pull it out of his mouth, but he keeps turning away from me, teasing me with the ball! He’s not playing fetch; he’s playing “come chase me!” And he’s training me to do it, too!
Once I realized this, I read some books, and I’ve changed my strategy. If he runs past me with the ball, I don’t follow him, and I don’t reach for the ball. Instead, I turn my back on him and ignore him. He really does like to play, so me ignoring him is a tremendous punishment! Eventually, he’ll bring the ball over to me, and once he does, I immediately throw it. That way, he knows that he’ll be rewarded with another throw if he brings me the ball. He is not a perfect fetch player yet, but I can now tell that one day he will be!
Which statement is supported by the story?
A.

D.
The dog will never learn how to play fetch.

the tragedy of julius caesar, part 6: word choice and motif how would the meaning of this passage be affected if fawned were changed to cowered?
The choice of words in this passage is important in shaping the audience's perception of the relationship between Caesar and Brutus, and changing it could significantly alter the meaning of the passage.
In "The Tragedy of Julius Caesar," Act 3, Scene 2, the conspirators have just assassinated Caesar and are addressing the crowd to justify their actions. In this passage, Brutus tells the crowd that they should be grateful for Caesar's death and that they should not fear the conspirators.
He says, "If then that friend demands why Brutus rose against Caesar, this is my answer: not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more. Had you rather Caesar were living and die all slaves, than that Caesar was dead to live all free men? As Caesar loved me, I wept for him; as he was fortunate, I rejoiced at it; as he was valiant, I honoured him: but, as he was ambitious, I slew him. There are tears for his love; joy for his fortune; honour for his valour; and death for his ambition."
If "fawned" were changed to "cowered" in the phrase "As Caesar loved me, I wept for him," the meaning of the passage would be affected. "Fawned" suggests that Caesar was overly affectionate towards Brutus, while "cowered" suggests that Caesar was afraid of Brutus. Changing "fawned" to "cowered" would shift the tone of the passage from one of affection to one of fear. This would alter the meaning of Brutus' words and could lead the audience to question whether or not Caesar truly loved Brutus, or if he was simply afraid of him.

who is the lamb brought to slaughter in roald dahl's short story? what is the significance of this title when considering the meaning of the story?
Answer:
the lamb that is slaughtered represents mary's innocence ("as shown by the connotations of lamb, which is a baby sheep- babies usually have connotations of purity and naivety and a lamb is usually shown as prey, further feeding into the image of innocence). the title is significant as it describes when mary's innocence is slaughtered, when she kills her husband and is exposed to supposed "evil" and "corruption".
Explanation:
In Roald Dahl's short story "Lamb to the Slaughter," the lamb refers to the leg of lamb used by the protagonist, Mary Maloney, to murder her husband. The title's significance lies in the double meaning it holds. First, it implies the unsuspecting victim, the husband, who is unknowingly led to his death. Second, it refers to the literal lamb used as a murder weapon, which ultimately gets consumed by the investigators, adding an ironic twist to the story.
The lamb brought to slaughter in Roald Dahl's short story is Mary Maloney's husband. The significance of this title when considering the meaning of the story is that it is a metaphor for the husband's fate and the inevitability of his downfall. In Roald Dahl's short story "Lamb to the Slaughter," the main character, Mary Maloney, murders her husband with a frozen leg of lamb after he tells her he's leaving her. Mary Maloney is heavily pregnant and had been a devoted wife to her husband, so his unexpected departure devastates her. As a result, she strikes him on the back of the head with a leg of lamb she had prepared for their dinner. She proceeds to create an alibi and dispose of the evidence in a manner that is both efficient and audacious. She then calls the police to report the crime and playacts as though she is the victim of an intruder. The police come, but they never suspect her because she appears to be so shaken and traumatized. In reality, Mary Maloney is a cold-blooded killer who cleverly conceals her crime until the very end. The significance of the title "Lamb to the Slaughter" is that it symbolizes the husband's fate and the inevitability of his downfall. A lamb is a vulnerable animal that is easily led to its slaughter, much like Mary Maloney's husband. He is unsuspecting, unaware of his wife's true feelings, and clueless about the danger he is in. In the end, he is slaughtered by his own wife, who he never suspected would harm him.

Use the link below to watch the Friends episode in which Joey employs several logical fallacies in an effort to convince his friends to give him money for a new fridge. Then identify ONE of logical fallacies the he uses, making sure to explain the logical fallacy, how he uses it, and why it is logically flawed support for his argument (that they should help pay for the new fridge). Your answer should be at least one well-developed paragraph long.
The Friends episode you are referring to is called "The One with the Lottery" from season nine. In this episode, Joey tries to convince his friends to lend him money so that he can buy a new refrigerator.
What is the fallacy about? One of the logical fallacies that Joey employs is called "Appeal to Pity" or "Ad Misericordiam." This fallacy is when someone tries to win an argument by making the other person feel sorry for them, rather than by presenting a logical case.
Joey uses this fallacy when he tells his friends about the sorry state of his old fridge, which has been making strange noises and causing him to lose food. He tries to appeal to their emotions and make them feel sorry for him, hoping that they will lend him the money he needs.
However, just because Joey's fridge is in bad shape, it doesn't necessarily mean that his friends should lend him money. It's important to evaluate the logical merits of an argument, rather than simply giving in to emotional appeals.

[1]I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
[5]Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
[10]Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
[15]A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
[20]In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
Wordsworth uses the word "dance" throughout his poem. In a paragraph of 3-5 sentences, analyze how the poet uses "dance" in stanzas 1 and 4. Who is dancing in these two stanzas? In each instance, what does the use of the word "dance" reveal about Wordsworth's view of nature?
Answer:
Wordsworth uses the word "dance" in stanzas 1 and 4 to describe the movement of the daffodils. In stanza 1, the daffodils are "fluttering and dancing in the breeze," while in stanza 4, they are "tossing their heads in sprightly dance." By describing the movement of the daffodils as a dance, Wordsworth suggests that nature is not just a passive backdrop but an active participant in the world. The daffodils are not just objects to be observed; they are living things with their agency and vitality. The word "dance" also connotes joy and celebration, reinforcing the idea that nature is a source of happiness and inspiration.
